How do you pronounce your last name?

It’s pronounced DOE-MANG, with equal emphasis on both syllables. I tell people it rhymes with the word “meringue” (as in lemon meringue pie) and that seems to help.
Do you plan to write a second novel?
Yes, I'm working on it now. The research and writing takes a while. I don't have a completion date yet, but I hope the second novel will be worth the wait.
How did you get Razi's name?
She named herself--sort of. When I was working on the short story that later became this novel, I knew quite a bit about her, but not her name. One day, on my way home from work, I was stopped at a light, and this, well, voice in my head told me, “My name is Raziela.” Okay, I thought, there you go. (Several characters in the second novel decided they didn't like their names and made me change them.)

What really happens at the end of the book?
I've been asked this several times. The end of MERCY is open to interpretation, on purpose. Each reader is encouraged to bring his/her own beliefs and hopes to the close of the book. If you believe Razi and Andrew were reunited in beyond, that's EXACTLY what happened. If you think Razi was imagining things, that's what happened.
